Our client, who operates within the rail sector requires the support of an Environmental Manager on a 9 month initial contract to support the research and analysis on the impact of weather and climate change on railway infrastructure and operations. This role will be based in Buckinghamshire with remote working permitted.
Key responsibilities in this role will be to support and develop an analysis framework for the organisation including a review of existing research, analysis and tools (primarily internal), a gaps analysis to determine what information required to effectively understand and manage weather and climate change impacts and resilience and identify future research/analysis projects.
Responsibilities
• Develop a leading resilience metric to track improvements in resilience.
• Support integration of climate change into whole life costing and degradation models
• External engagement to collaborate on projects and identify areas we should be getting involved.
• Communications/briefing to share key information with stakeholders across the business
• Develop online library of useful reports and tools
Successful candidates will have experience working within a similar role with demonstrable working knowledge on infrastructure related projects, with a particular focus on the research into the implications of climate change for the transport sector. You will have the ability to identify metrics and collect data to monitor performance relating to climate change adaptation. Candidates must have a good understanding and working knowledge of UKCP18 together with strong stakeholder engagement skills You will also acquire a relevant environment or engineering degree within this field.
Day rate – up to £350 – £450 Umbrella (inside IR35)
