Business Development Manager (Manned Guarding and Contract Cleaning)
Salary: £42,000 with uncapped commission + car allowance
On Target Earnings (OTE): £56,000 – £62,000
We are looking for a great business development professional to own the majority of the sales function for our company.
Your primary role will be to sell local security (manned guarding) and contract cleaning services to the private and public sectors.
Ideally, we’re looking for someone who can initially be a reliable contributor to new sales but also someone who can build out the initial sales team as we move forward with ambitious plans for the business.
This is a brand new role for the business. As our Business Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in building our customer base and shaping the early growth strategy for the company.
You will be located within commutable distance to Milton Keynes and will work from our office but spend a large proportion of your time visiting potential customers.

Core Responsibilities
* Develop and execute the sales strategy for the company, in liaison with the Managing Director
* Create and maintain a target list of potential customers and execute a sales strategy for these contracts
* Lead the negotiation or re-negotiation of all sales opportunities
* Develop, maintain and convert a strong pipeline of opportunities from lead generation to close, that ensures sales and margin targets are achieved
* Responsible for quality proposals and tender writing and submissions, including attending site visits, meeting potential customers and delivering presentations.
* Contribute to improving the sales processes, procedures, methodology, tools and documentation
* Work side-by-side with the operational team to develop relationships to cross and up-sell services to existing customers
* Ensure smooth mobilisations of new contracts in conjunction with the operations team
The Ideal Candidate
Essential
* Can generate and convert own sales pipeline independently and is a reliable contributor to new sales
* Passionate about paying and treating our frontline team fairly
* Willingness to roll up sleeves and succeed in an unstructured environment
* Capable of leading and implementing a successful sales system and methodology
* Ability to develop solutions for clients that represent value rather than price
* Be comfortable to single-handedly win small sales projects of £20k-£500k annualised value.
* Can occasionally run large sales projects with multi-services of £500k-£1m annualised value, usually with some assistance
* Not troubled with a target of £1m will not trouble you
* Proactive self-starter with self-management skills
* Polite, helpful and diligent, with a can-do attitude and strong engagement skills
* Ability to negotiate effectively and professionally at all levels
* Strong business acumen & commercial astuteness
* To be a team player as well as working independently with a focus on sharing good practice.
Desirable
* Leadership, management and coaching skills
* Training and development experience of junior business development personnel
* Successful background in security (manned guarding) and/or contract cleaning sales
* Strong understanding of the industry to be able to focus on relevant sectors strategically
* Ability to cost opportunities ensuring sustainable profit
* Facilities management sector experience would be a distinct advantage
