Our client has a permanent vacancy for a Legal Accounts Manager to manage the accounts team and to provide services to support the fee earners, Partners and staff.
Role
To comply with all Solicitor Accounts Rules, Lexcel and Money Laundering procedures
To supervise, direct and manage an efficient accounts team to include staffing, training, advice, problem solving, provision of cover and resolution of difficult accounts queries
To ensure correct procedures are followed and compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules, accounting standards and COFA requirements
To monitor and authorise purchase ledger
To deliver of monthly management information and year end to include:
Financial & WIP Statistics Report
Board Reports (including cash flow forecasts and profit and loss reports)
Aged debt, Aged WIP, Client balance reports
Contingent WIP reports
Time recording reports
Preparation and monitoring of budgets, to include:
Firm wide expenditure
Apportionment of expenditure to relevant depts.
Comparison to previous year and budget variance
Cash flow forecast and position
Liaising with accountants to ensure all information is provided for annual accounts and ensuring they are signed off within 4 months of year end
Administration of monthly payroll (with HR & Office Manager), ensuring pension contributions are made and all HMRC requirements met including RTI uploads, P60’s, P11d’s & PAYE settlement agreements
Maintaining records of Partner finances to include:
Drawings and tranches
Tax
Capital loans
Cars
Monitor and authorise VAT returns and payments to HMRC
Dealing with Accountants SRA and annual audit
Managing relationship with banks and providing relevant reports as and when required
You will report directly to the Managing Partner and/or Board Members as directed
Requirements
* High degree of computer literacy—able to use Word, Excel and PowerPoint to intermediate/advanced level.
* Ability to develop high level of knowledge of the firm’s case management system
* Excellent understanding of SRA rules
* Excellent organisational and time management skills
* Able to use own initiative
* Proactive, flexible and able to adapt to changing business needs
* Able to communicate with people at all levels within the organisation and build positive working relationships
* Lively, enthusiastic team player with a proactive approach to their work
* Professional and discreet
