The Nursery Cook has a duty of care for all children and is part of the team ensuring their safety and welfare through following our policies and procedures. We are a professional and motivated team in a happy and pleasant working environment.
Role Purpose: To prepare, cook and present appropriate food to high standards in a clean, tidy and safe environment.
Key Responsibilities:

To provide high quality freshly prepared nutritious meals that are appropriate for children and babies
*
Ensure meals are served on time as per nursery menu and to the required standard
*
To prepare a morning and afternoon snack for children and babies
*
To maintain a high standard of hygiene at all times and to follow infection/cross contamination control procedures
*
To constantly be aware of special dietary needs, referring to food allergies, food intolerances, cultural needs, vegetarian requirements and any other according to the special dietary needs and allergy form in the kitchen
*
To be aware of and carry out duties in connection with health and safety at work (e.g. risk assessments, check and record fridge/freezer temperatures) and to update and manage Safer Food, Better Business file daily
*
To carry out food temperature checks and record this appropriately
*
To ensure that equipment and materials including dishwasher, microwave, oven etc are cleaned and cleared away leaving the kitchen neat and tidy
*
To ensure the equipment is maintained in good working order and any faults reported to management
*
To ensure stock levels are managed and rotated and shopping list completed weekly
*
To defrost and clean fridges/freezers frequently
*
Clean and tidy the kitchen and dining room after the children have finished their meal and wash or put equipment into the dishwasher
*
To work effectively as part of the nursery team and respect confidentiality relating to children and their families
*
To adhere to food hygiene policies, standard operating processes and legislation
*
To occasionally attend team meetings when required
*
To develop seasonal menus, researching ideas and offering suggestions for dishes to include.
*
To ensure you have a clean uniform, including head wear, daily and wear suitable footwear for working in a busy kitchen space.

Be willing to work some additional hours occasionally if required
