Our client is a leading Civil Engineering contractor based in Buckinghamshire with an exciting opportunity for a Section Design Lead to join their project team on a permanent basis.
Scope of works includes 15 viaducts, 6.9km of green tunnels, 22km of road diversions, 81 bridges and around 30 million cubic metres of excavation.
Responsibilities will include:
Leading and managing the permanent works design section team to drive and ensure the design delivery in line with the conditions of the contract, in a timely manner and in consideration of quantities and costs implications.
Guide and oversee the design activities from ASC related to the Section, in coordination with the Design Delivery Director in those topics that require a consistent approach across the project
Overall technical accountability to the Design Delivery Director for the PW design/technical delivery within the section, in particular on the overall coordination of all designs involving multiple design disciplines, its buildability, ensuring the coordination and integration of the PW with the Key TW designs (those that are closely related to the PW design development and assurance)
Seek identification Key TW designs that relate and will need to be developed to inform the PW design, and ensure schedule integration of the PW design delivery schedule with the schedule for development/delivery of Key TW designs
To ensure that review of the design deliverables is undertaken as per the Management Plans (Technical Assurance Plan, Design Management Plans, Configuration Management Plan, etc.) and all requirements of the Contract
Liaison and coordination with the Construction Section team, first point of contact with the section for design and technical-related topics during design stage, providing clarification and responses to their technical queries
Report progress to Design Delivery Director, including preparation of a single report as per the template
Design assurance documentation: to guide, coordinate preparation, seeking the support where required from other members of the DMT and assurance teams. Comprises the design assurance documentation required as evidence to achieve the design certification.
Qualifications
Degree in Civil Engineering or similar
