Head of Music required for a Large Academy based in Buckinghamshire to start in September 2021
Job Description
Post: Head of Music
Job Purpose: To ensure the effective teaching of Music so that students can
Develop skills and knowledge
The Head of Music is responsible for improving the quality of the learning and teaching of
Music throughout the Academy. The Candidate will be responsible for managing all
Activities relating to the Music specialism.
The Head of Music will be required
Raise standards of attainment at every key stage in Music.
Lead the Department through effective teaching, professional vision and knowledge
Ensure that the aims of Music Schemes of Learning and the knowledge, skills and
Attitudes to be imparted to students through the Department, are in keeping with the
General aims of the Academy
Maintain and develop schemes of learning, within the framework of the National
Curriculum and the requirements of examination boards, working collaboratively with
the whole team.
Play an active part in ensuring that all students are working to their potential and
Achieving improved standards
Keep abreast of curriculum developments affecting the department.
The Head of Music will be required to:
To demonstrate a commitment to the specialisms of the Academy
Manage all activities relating to the academy's Music specialism.
Have Enthusiasm
A good sense of humour
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to make effective links with students,
Parents, governors and the wider community
The drive to 'make a difference' to all student
