We're working with a leading transportation and distribution company to recruit for a full, brand new, team of category managers, covering a variety of different areas of spend. You will lead a brand new category of spend, establishing strategic category management plans and achieving cost savings along with value for money.

Description
Engage with internal stakeholders to build close trusted relationships and to ensure a full understanding of requirements relating to your category are captured
Analyse pipeline, identifying synergies and build these into a category management plan detailing the strategic approach for delivering requirements to ensure optimum results in terms of benefits and value for money
Constantly monitoring supplier market and identify opportunities resulting from market innovation new product offerings and/or market shifts
Ensure early engagement with the business, in order to support and influence from strategy development through to Contract Award, including but not limited to development of tenders and procurement documentation, drafting contracts and compiling feedback letters to successful and unsuccessful bidders
Develop efficiency initiatives that can be implemented across the company to improve the way we procure and achieve efficiency savings whilst maintain value for money
Ensure that risks are identified and that mitigation actions are defined and managed
Act as a role model for the company's vision and values, behaving in ways that are in alignment with the company's ways of working, encouraging and supporting others
Promote equality in the workplace and adopt appropriate behaviour when interacting with colleaguesProfile
Strong Experience in category management within a rail environment.
Experience in managing large value procurements
Public sector procurement experience including knowledge and understanding of Crown Commercial Service frameworks, and experience with procurement processes including relevant regulatory requirements and knowledge and experience of OJEU
Excellent communication, relationship Management and presentation skills
Ability to work autonomously
Strong people skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
Experience in driving innovation and change in an established industry or organisation
UK rail industry knowledge and experience is an advantage

As well as a generous £50,000 – £60,000 basic salary, our client are happy to offer:
– 20% bonus
– 36 Days holiday +/- 2 bought or sold
– 6/12% pension contribution
