Job Purpose:
Taking a lead role in the management and delivery of employment and skills outcome targets/ initiatives across Berkeley Homes (Oxford & Chiltern).
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Apprentices
To lead, develop and grow the apprentice talent within the business now and in the future.
* Develop a clear strategy for recruitment, assessment, development and retention throughout the scheme and in the future
* Work closely with apprentice providers to establish a service level agreement and ensure this is delivered in a timely manner
* Drive the delivery of the apprentice programme across all locations and training providers
* Establish relationships with all apprentices
* Build a relationship with all managers and mentors to ensure effective partnering to deliver the programme
* Develop and manage placements to ensure effective learning including organising departmental rotations
* Conduct on-going apprentice reviews, assessment and performance management
* Manage the safety of apprentices ensuring site induction and PPE standards are adhered to
* Act as the point of contact and subject matter expert for all internal and external stakeholders
* Engage and broker relationships with sub-contractors to encourage apprenticeship and vocational training placements within the supply chain
Building Futures
To lead and develop the delivery of the BHOC ‘Building Futures’ Programme. You will ensure the scheme drives the competence and skills of the business to ensure we meet our talent and capability needs now and in the future.
* Co-ordinate recruitment, on-boarding and induction of trainees.
* Conduct on-going trainee reviews, assessment and performance management
* Manage the safety of trainees ensuring site induction and PPE standards are adhered to
* Ensure Buddy/Mentor system is in place and service standards are being met
* Liaise with school/university to ensure the trainee is performing/attending college and producing the correct standard of work.
* Assist where necessary should issues arise and provide pastoral care.
* Build relationships with schools, colleges and universities supporting a range of initiatives to promote industry image and support entry routes into the industry.
* Attend and present at national external initiatives eg CITB’s “Open Doors” week, National Careers Week and British Science Week.
* Attend and present at local careers events.
* Represent BHOC at job fairs and other employment and skills events eg Skills London, forums, external panel discussions etc
* Facilitate socials for recruits to share experiences
Graduates
To ensure effective delivery of the Berkeley Group Graduate Programme within BHOC. You will ensure the scheme drives the competence and skills of the business to ensure we meet our talent and capability needs now and in the future.
On Boarding
* Develop and improve the on-boarding experience for new starters to maintain retention
* Manage New Starter Process within the business
Training
Develop and monitor the provision of NVQ’s, CIOB and NEBOSH qualifications including offering training when appropriate and forming relationships with training providers.
Coaching and mentoring
Work closely with the business to build a culture of coaching and mentoring
Design, implement and manage a mentoring scheme within BHOC
Council engagement
* Work with local councils to produce development-specific Employment and Skills Plans (ESP) and provide updates on S106 performance as and when required.
External Engagement
* Provide supporting evidence for CCS audits regarding community engagement, developing workforce and increasing industry awareness.
Reporting requirements
* Coordination and management of the relevant Berkeley Group ‘Vision 2030’ commitments and data reporting.
* Provide monthly input into MPR’s (Monthly Progress Reports), MWA’s (Monthly Workforce Analysis) and Board Reports.
* Document and monitor the apprentice programme reporting on relevant metrics.
Technical Competencies:
* Proven experience of working in a similar role, experience in managing an apprenticeship programme
* Proven experience in a similar administration/coordination role
