We are looking to recruit a Team Manager of our 16-25 Team within Corporate Parenting in Children's Social Care. The 16-25 Team was formed in October 2019 to specifically address the needs of older children as they transition into becoming Care Leavers and to ensure that they receive the appropriate support into independent living. As the Team Manager of the 16-25 Team you will be working alongside the Head of Service for Corporate Parenting and the Managers of the Fostering and Children in Care Teams and Regional Adoption Agency. You will manage a team consisting of a Deputy Manager, Senior Practitioners, Social Workers and Personal Advisers to fulfil the Council’s statutory requirements under Children Act 1989. The post holder will also be responsible for developing initiatives supporting and engaging Care Leavers and building relationships with organisations providing accommodation for older children in care. This role provides a great opportunity to use your extensive knowledge and skills to lead others to achieve the best possible outcomes for children, young people and their families by adopting Milton Keynes Family Support Approach.
Key Duties
* To ensure that all children in need, in need of protection, and/or in care are safeguarded and their well-being is promoted effectively, through the application of specialist theory, practical and procedural knowledge
* To manage and promote Transition of Care Leavers
* To ensure a range of interventions appropriate to the needs of the families are provided to support children in need and at risk to live safely within their family wherever possible
* Assessments, care/pathway planning and case work reviews conducted in line with legislation, and agreed national standards, performance targets and regulatory requirements are met
* To utilise detailed and complex analysis from highly complex information from a variety of sources and quality to underpin creative short and long term solutions in highly complex and risky situations
Experience, Qualifications and any Mandatory Requirements
* Social work qualification (Dip SW, CQSW, Degree in social work or equivalent)
* Management and supervisory experience in social care field
* Minimum of 5 years post qualification experience
* Registered with Social Work England
Skills Required
* Ability to analyse highly complex information, summarise and write/ record relevant information clearly and concisely so that it is easily understood by users and colleagues
* Ability to chair complex inter agency meetings, legal planning meetings, and argue case cogently in court and with partner agencies
* Ability to analysis performance information to identify areas for support and what is working well within the service
* Previous Budget Management experience
* Preferable experience of working with UASC and Care Leavers Service
* Excellent Communication skills
* Must be self-motivated and able to make difficult decisions to support staff in complex work, supervise and appraise staff, within a framework and to Social Work England standards
