Job Description: Occupational Therapist

Grade: Band 6 Equivalent

Salary: £35,000 per annum

Client Specification

My client is a Well-Established Rehabilitation Hospital which also offers Complex Nursing Care in Aylesbury. My client is seeking an Occupational Therapist to work within the therapy department to provide occupational therapy assessment and rehabilitation to Patients with neuro-disability on an individual and group basis according to the agreed goals and objectives of Patients.

Occupational Therapist Specification

* To Independently manage a designated Caseload of Clients with Complex Needs in Spinal Cord Injuries and Neurological Conditions

* To Complete Specialist assessments of clients to address their occupational performance

* To work as part of a multi/Interdisciplinary team

* To conduct and develop rehabilitation groups, liaising with other members of the team

* To plan and carry out regular goal review with the patient/family to discuss progress and plan for future goals

* To work with Clients, their relatives/Carers to identify OT goals as part of their overall care plan plan

* To monitor, evaluate and modify treatment in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness

* To carry out home visits with other health care professionals to identify equipment and care needs required for discharge

* To lead and co-ordinate conferences and family meetings

* To act as a key worker for designated patients

* To participate in clinical meetings which review individual patients' progress

* To refer clients on to other agencies as appropriate

Occupational Therapist Professional Requirements

* To be responsible for maintaining own competency to practise through CPD activities and maintain a portfolio which reflects personal developments

* To continually meet the physiotherapy competencies as defined in the role specific competency document for Physiotherapists and provide evidence of this during supervision and appraisals sessions

* Maintain and develop current knowledge of Evidence based practice

* Ensure that your own practice and that of staff under your supervision meet the required professional standards of Occupational Therapy practice

* To work at all times within the framework of the Hospitals standard operating procedures, values framework and Therapy department guidelines

* To ensure all mandatory training is kept up to date

Occupational Therapist Essential Criteria

* Minimum 3 years of post graduate experience

* Documented evidence of CPD

* Minimum of 1 Years recent experience working in Spinal Cord Injury Rehab Setting

* Experience of managing a varied, complex caseload

* Experience of working in a Multi/interdisciplinary team

* Previous experience of administering, interpreting and evaluating standardised and non standardised assessments used in Spinal cord injury
