Purchasing & Supply Chain Manager – Electronic components

Based Milton Keynes

Main Function of the Job

The main function of the job is the design, planning, execution, control, and monitoring of supply chain activities to maximise working capital and stock availability whilst maintaining excellent Customer Service to agreed lead times through efficient use of resources in MK and China.

Job Specification

* Manage directly (MK) and indirectly (China) Sourcing, Purchasing, Planning and delivery of raw materials to meet the manufacturing requirements of “NCL” in order to deliver excellent Customer Service in terms of price, delivery and quality.

* Execute effective negotiations with suppliers to ensure excellent relationships, shortest lead times, on time delivery and lowest total costs of the “NCL” Finished Goods.

* Manage directly (MK) & indirectly (China) the planning, warehousing and

Shipping functions to ensure excellent Customer Service in terms of price,

availability and quality of the “NCL” finished goods

* Work closely with the SCM function in China to ensure material is available

for on time manufacture of customer orders.

* Working with the SCM Manager in China.

* Ensure the “NCL” business has adequate & effective supply chain management and

Business process systems, and that such systems / processes are continually maintained to be effective.

* In conjunction with China & MK determine best possible finished goods lead times for publication to customers.

* Ensure close working with design engineering from early design stage to establish lowest total cost of new product designs and to ensure availability of material for new product developments, including but not limited to, materials and logistics costs

* Ensure close working with MK & China Quality functions to ensure quality standards are set and met for incoming material and outgoing finished goods.

* Ensure Production Planning and Forecasting systems and processes are effective and efficient to meet the needs of the business. Especially the Avante Materials, Manufacturing, Planning and Shipping Systems.

* Ensure that the business has effective and efficient SCM KPI reports – including: Customer Order Overdues, Delivery On Time statistics, Factory Schedule Changes, Supplier Performance, inventory and Material Cost reporting.

* Be the point of escalation for the business on matters of SCM & Finished Goods delivery performance.

* Seek & derive opportunities to collaborate with SCM & Commodity

Management functions to ensure the business benefits from any synergies.

* If required ensure effective Management of subcontractors to meet the manufacturing requirements of “NCL” in order to deliver excellent Customer Service in terms of price, availability and quality.

* Behave in a manner according to the ‘Code of Conduct’ when representing the business

Personal Attributes

To effectively perform the duties of a Supply Chain Manager, Individuals must be able to demonstrate a number of competencies that are essential to the position, which include:

Essential

* Five plus years’ experience in a supply chain management position. Preferably within the Electronics Industry.

* Have a sound understanding of MRP and MPS

* Be willing to travel worldwide as required.

* Have knowledge of manufacturing methods used in the electronics industry, particularly in the PCB and injection moulding industry

* Have experience of working with and pushing the boundaries of defined project budgets

* Have the ability to multi-task and cope with a degree of pressure in a professional business environment.

* Ability to work accurately to defined timescales.

* IT literate.

* Able to manage and motivate a diverse team effectively while being self-motivated.

* Be a proactive and good communicator with stakeholders across all levels to drive projects to timely completion

Desirable

* CIPS certificate

* Experience with cross functional and geographical project leadership, e.g.: cost down and supply rationalisation exercises

* PCB and components sourcing and negotiation experience
