Quality Engineer (Aerospace & Motorsport)
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Quality Engineer to join a rapidly growing company. The company specialises in complex parts for transmission and drive trains for Aerospace, Motorsport and Oil & Gas industries.
Plans and directs APQP & PPAP activities for the company. Establishes quality policies and procedures and ensures conformance with established company, and site needs and objectives. Develops and implements the product quality systems and facilitates corrective actions to ensure conformity with customer requirements.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for implementation of APQP & PPAP documentation and associated activities.
Liaise with Quality, Engineering and Production departments. Requirements of APQP & PPAP.
Supports Quality Manager with Quality Audit Program including External and Internal Audits, Corrective Actions and follow up.
Participates in RFQ and purchase order review process; and reviews, approves, and generates purchase order requirements for raw materials and all outside processing (NDT, heat treatment, etc.).
Responsible to ensure first article and first article paperwork is accurate and timely for completion at final inspection.
Identifies and resolves manufacturing problems that affect quality and assists manufacturing and quality engineering personnel with the interpretation of complex part prints and specifications.
Serves as liaison with manufacturing operations staff to improve product processes.
Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Ensures that quality tools and procedures are developed and applied consistently across the organization.
Lead 8D & 5Why investigations into non-conformities.
Implement control measures on floor and action against dates such as spec.
Assist and implement CI and 5S lean activities across the business.
Project a positive attitude toward quality.
Qualification & skills required for this position
Minimum of three years as a Quality Engineer or equivalent experience.
Working knowledge of applicable manufacturing and quality requirements including ISO 9001, AS 9100.
Working knowledge of APQP & PPAP tools, including PFMEA, MSA, control plans, FAI. Knowledge of AS9145 or AIAG would be an advantage, but not essential.
Proficient in the use of personal computers, blueprint reading, geometric tolerances, and application of SPC to the manufacturing process.
Gear and transmission knowledge an advantage but not critical- training given.
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and manage in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with inspection methods, coordinate measuring machines and test equipment. NDT, processes, heat treating.
