Senior Electrical Design Engineer Milton Keynes, UK £45-55k + benefits

This is a new and interesting role for an experienced electrical design engineer to join an expanding and successful automotive technology company. The company is involved with the development and manufacture of products for the electric vehicle market. It also offers an impressive array of test facilities for the automotive market.

This role is aligned to the design and development of test systems and high value test equipment in support of the company’s extensive test facilities.

Required: Senior Electrical Design Engineer

* Good first principles electrical design experience gained within an industrial environment involving capital equipment / machinery and instrumentation (e.g. automated test systems, automated machinery, robotics, automated assembly machinery, etc.)

* Able to own projects and take them from initial requirements through to final commissioning and sign-off.

* Ability to specify electrical systems designs as well as produce electrical schematic for low voltage applications (24V to 1000V dc or 1500V ac)

* Good experience with 2D CAD systems for wiring schematics, P&ID circuits, layout drawings.

As well as the support of new test equipment you will be involved with developing electrical solutions to upgrade and develop existing test systems.

As a senior electrical design engineer you will need to be able to own and deliver electrical design projects from start to finish. Experience of working on the design of electrical systems involving sensors and PLC / automation would be great.

Skills / Knowledge required:

* Ideally a degree in electrical engineering coupled with first principles electrical design knowledge

* Good electrical design experience gained within an industrial environment involving capital equipment / machinery and instrumentation (e.g. automated test systems, automated machinery, robotics, automated assembly machinery, low voltage capital equipment.)

* Able to own projects and take them from initial requirements through to final commissioning and sign-off.

* Ability to specify electrical systems designs as well as produce electrical schematic for low voltage applications (24V to 1000V dc or 1500V ac)

* Experience with variable speed drives (integration of drives), sensors and instrumentation (e.g. speed, temperature, etc.)

* Experience of electrical safety (risk assessments, safety standards, etc)

* Good experience with 2D CAD systems for wiring schematics, P&ID circuits, layout drawings.

Others: Beneficial skills

* Practical electrical installation, commissioning, and test experience (panel build etc)

* Good knowledge of noise immunity (EMI, EMC considerations)

* Experience of automation and PLC control software (ideally Beckhoff automation or similar)

Electrical design candidates should be well organised, proactive, good communicators and able to take a lead and mentor junior technicians if required. The role is site based.
