Job Purpose
The GYG initiative needs to take on board the consumer research completed February 2021 and develop its own communication plan which is integrated with the wider business needs. Developing the stories and relationships with key beneficiaries so that our client has user generated content throughout the year.
Working with Brand manager and marketing manager in the delivery of a twice-yearly Gift Your Gear campaign; primarily ensuring beneficiaries are properly managed, there are clear communications with the retail team about the campaigns and the beneficiaries. As well as providing timely and relevant information to the marketing team to enable them to clearly communicate the benefits to customers, staff, beneficiaries and press.
The expectation is that Gift Your Gear initiative will take up an average of 3 days per week. The remainder of the time will be spent handling with other charity and sponsorship requests, developing a communication plan that underpins the overall brand strategy.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee the development of beneficiary relationships, and personally identify, cultivate and manage portfolio of prospects. Ensure a good geographic spread of projects to enable engagement with local community around store portfolio.
Maintain and improve communications with current and future beneficiaries, including arranging visits to projects, maintaining up-to-date agreements to ensure donations are used as intended and photographic permissions obtained as required.
Develop community awareness and provide support to our client's shops.
Generate media content, articles and stories.
Liaise with marketing teams encouraging own channel promotion of GYG.
Work proactively with beneficiaries to promote GYG/our client using their networks for positive effect.
Work closely with the Content team to ensure up-to-date content is featured on the GYG website and social channels, and that all GYG queries are answered.
Manage the budget for the Gift Your Gear Initiative within agreed parameters.
Drive through efficiencies in the administrative process
Local marketing – helping to create local and regional opportunities to tie in with stores throughout the UK
Monitor and report weekly trade news, consumer forums and competitor promotions building a useful view of the wider market.
Provide additional help to the Events Manager with stock processing, prep and set ups as required. Develop a system for booking out equipment, noting any losses or replacements.
Ensure purchase orders and expense records are kept up to date
Undertake other tasks as directed by the Brand manager
Work with the Operations Director to ensure logistic elements for each and every campaign period works effectively for the business and within budget.
Work with the Retail Management team to ensure shops have been properly briefed to receive donations and to process them according to logistical pressures (time, space etc.)
Update the Brand manager with progress, challenges and competitors in this area.
Become the lead marketing contact for all charity requests outside the GYG scheme, ensuring all requests get a swift response.
Undertake a project to investigate a ‘white label’ project creating a way of turning gear requests into a bigger network of supporters for good and separately look at the potential for a Youth Adventure Trust volunteers’ scheme.
Working with the Marketing Manager and building a list PR contacts to create awareness of the GYG initiative. Ensuring seasonal product news, business stories, images are sent out in a timely fashion. Logging all sample send outs against coverage, enabling the team to chase up contacts, identify core contacts & remove time wasters. Accurately collate press cuttings and measuring monthly KPI’s for coverage year on year and PR value
Who are we looking for?
To fulfil this exciting new role you will possess the following competencies and qualities:
PC Literate Word, Excel
Communication Skills – Fluent English, written and spoken
Logistics – management of all logistical considerations including timings, space availability, delivery/collection arrangements.
Administration – accurate record keeping and reporting
Be able to create copy using UGC from the beneficiaries
Stakeholder Management/ interpersonal skills – to work effectively with a number of departments – warehousing, retail, CSR Manager, marketing as well as managing all beneficiary relationships.
Autonomous – must be able to manage their own workload & be able to work under pressure, to multi task and be pro-active in their approach to work
Must have a clean UK driving license
