Up to £30K (Perm Equivalent) – 6 Month Temp to Perm Contract
Our highly successful client, based in Lane End, is looking to recruit a Shipping Co-ordinator (on a 6 Month Contract).
Reporting to the Customer Service Manager, your responsibilities will be to ensure all export/import shipments are compliant with country-specific regulatory import requirements and are promptly completed in a cost-effective manner. You are to ensure customers are provided with the relevant documentation as soon as it becomes available. You will need to have a good understanding of current import regulations.
You will be working closely with various departments as well as the third-party logistics team, distributors, freight agents and regulatory bodies. You will also be required to supervise the Shipping Administration Team, whilst supporting the Customer Service Manager with the efficient running of the department.
Duties of the Role:
* Effective co-ordination of export/import shipments
* Ensuring the routine administration of shipments, including invoicing all necessary documentation, is dealt with promptly and all export legislation and regulations are fully adhered to
* Creating export documentation to ensure consignments are compliant with all applicable transportation and export regulations (currently 60+ countries)
* Ensuring all shipping information is provided to both internal/external partners so that the dispatch of goods can be efficiently arranged
* The effective preparation and validation of all Letters of Credit
* Ensuring invoices from freight/packing companies are accurately matched and validated against the relevant orders to enable approval/sign off
* Identifying/creating legally compliant documentation for the importation of goods
* Ensuring the relevant partner information is accurately updated on all documents/systems
* Ensuring Certificates of shipments are maintained
* Effectively liaising with external packing companies, including the shipment and documentation of Hazardous Goods
* Updating/maintaining a directory of freight forwarder contacts and obtaining competitive freight quotations for specific exports
* Checking on completion/quality/work progress and ensuring the quality of the task/services/information provided by you/others
Skills and Experienced Required:
* An understanding of HTS codes, schedule B, ECCN, EAR, Certificates of Origin
* Export qualifications or a degree (beneficial)
* Experience working in an export/shipping role and detailed knowledge of current export/shipping documentation/regulations (desirable)
* Experience in preparing Letters of Credit
* Excellent communication skills (both verbally and written), with the ability to communicate at all levels
* Having the ability to make judgements based on the analysis of factual information
* Experience in a Customer Service environment (essential)
* Enthusiastic, dependable, focused and goal orientated
* Strong attention to detail (essential)
* Ability to manage and prioritise workload
* Good team member
