Purpose of Job
To lead the regulatory substance approval and product authorisation processes necessary under the European Biocidal Product Regulation (BPR) and in support of the Company product development plan to ensure compliance.
Key areas of responsibility
* Plan approval and authorisation projects required by the European Biocidal Product Regulation (BPR) in support of the Company product development and marketing plans.
* Monitor and control approval and authorisation work to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budget
* Report routinely on regulatory affairs performance, identifying risks and opportunities for improvement.
* To manage the regulatory affairs teamof 3 people
* Prepare reports and dossiers.
* Oversee the creation of safety data sheets ensuring that safety data sheets are available at all times for all products and that documents are adequately controlled.
* Develop and maintain regulatory knowledge of Global, European and National biocide and pesticides regulations
* Work collaboratively with all members of the R&D team to ensure the achievement of project, departmental and business objectives.
* Represent the business through actively participating in wider business activities such as conferences and expert groups relevant to technical area.
* Keep abreast of developments in timber preservation and product formulations in order to best support the Company product development plan.
* Support Company HS&E programmes, working always with due regard to company and legislative health, safety and environmental requirements and acting to minimise risk in order to avoid injury, ill-health and environmental damage.
Experience, skills and qualifications
* Minimum of University degree in chemistry, toxicology, biology or related scientific discipline
* At least 3 years’ experience gained from industry, regulators and/or environmental consultancies including experience of people management
* Demonstrable knowledge of the BPR including a proven track record of successfully submitting active substance approvals and biocidal product authorisations
* Knowledge of efficacy, risk and exposure assessment
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Motivated, organised and proactive
* Able to think creatively and use initiative to overcome problems
* Confident in decision making and taking ownership of tasks
* Able to form and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders
