Forget predictable swings and slides, this global company design and manufacture inventive playground and outdoor fitness equipment. Their UK company is looking for somebody to focus on sales through architects and specifiers, which can have a long lead time, but a high value. This is a new role, so there’s a chance to make a mark in an ambitious organisation.

THE ROLE
The company understands that playgrounds and outdoor fitness are not just about the equipment, but also form landmarks and centres of community. You will be taking this innovative approach to market, mostly via architects and specifiers. You’ll be looking to become involved in new projects at a very early stage (probably via platforms such as Glenigans) to give the best chance to influence each project and inspire architects and designers with what’s possible.
Sales of this type can be long, and evolve over time, so you need to stay involved, keep things bubbling, and hitting the key milestones as each project moves through your sales pipeline. You’ll be building a network of contacts, finding opportunities, making formal sales presentations and putting together documents that command respect across your target audience.
You will also be helping to educate the architect community with presentations, sometimes to maintain their CPD status, as well as using social media, particularly LinkedIn, to influence, inform and entertain.
THE CANDIDATE
You will be very used to working with the architectural community. You can speak their language and understand their motivations and priorities. You understand the sales process and how to keep things moving. Your follow up is timely, memorable and energetic.
Experience with playground equipment or fitness required, but you’re probably familiar selling good products and service that create value through creativity and innovation.
You will also be familiar dealing with local authorities and the private sector through developers, retail, fitness and contractors. There’s usually a dance to be undertaken to a complex audience of senior influencers and decision makers, but it’s one you enjoy and keep bright and nimble.
Because of the nature of the processes involved, you know it’s important to get engaged in projects early, and you’re used to construction sales lead platforms, such as Glenigans.
This is a really interesting role with loads of variety – and you never take your eyes off the main goal which is closing the sale. That gives you a real sense of purpose,
GEOGRAPHY
This is a UK wide role, but probably centred on the South East where a lot of the target audience are centred, and the HQ’s are UK based.
SALARY
Annual basic salary will be in the region of £50k, and a realistic OTE of up to £70k.
