Sensory Panel Lead – Food & FMCG – High Wycombe
This is a fantastic opportunity to work in partnership with Innovation, Brand, CMI and R&D teams to support innovations at a global leading Food and FMCG company.
You will report to the Head of Consumer Technical Insights (CTI) and will have the primary responsibility of managing the UK Sensory Panel based at our High Wycombe R&D site that supports the UK innovation, renovation and stewardship pipeline. You will work as part for a small yet highly fundamental team to apply scientific leadership to Sensory Panels sessions.
What will this role achieve?
You will utilise your technical and interpersonal capabilities to:
* Raise the sensory & consumer science profile
* Secure alignment to consumer success criteria and research principles/design
* Deliver sensory & consumer science learning plan in support of innovation renovation and stewardship projects, which represent significant financial opportunities for pladis
What will be your key results?
* Manage the Sensory Capability in High Wycombe through outstanding and fit for purpose methodologies and facility (Sensory Lab)
* Working closely with the other CTI team members, prioritise and schedule sensory studies to meet business project needs and timelines, highlighting any issues of panel capacity
* Ensure 4-day-week Sensory Panel Operations (software sessions, running panel sessions and analysing the data) whilst reporting results to the business and providing recommendations based on the data
* Regularly check and structure panel performance and set training sessions to improve and sustain efficient panel performance
* Manage the shelf life program
* Closely work with the sensory technician providing mentorship when appropriate on sensory science and techniques
* Lead & maintain positive relationships with panel agency
What do you need for this role?
Crucial
* Experience in sensory panel leadership (session execution, preparation, analysis and reporting)
* Proficiency in FIZZ, or similar sensory software
* Proficiency in statistical software and analysis
* Significant experience to manage the interpretation/translation of insights into a technical product/pack development glide-path
* Confident knowledge in sensory techniques
* Proven knowledge in Consumer Science methodologies: quantitative and qualitative research, benchmarking, segmentation, claims development.
Preferred
* Experience in consumer-based taste tests
* Food hygiene or food preparation NQV
* Previous demonstrable experience in food FMCG and/or research industry (cosmetics, personal care, homecare would be relevant)
* Experience with at least a Statistics solution (such as SPSS, JMP, R, XlStats, etc.)
* Multi-discipline/multi-function team working skills and experience
