The Vale of Aylesbury Housing Trust is a Buckinghamshire based housing association providing homes and services to local communities throughout the Vale of Aylesbury, we have around 7,500 homes. We pride ourselves on working closely with residents and surrounding communities to make sure we deliver high quality housing, homes and services. We are looking for a brilliant Community Caretaker to help us achieve our vision and goals.
The Role:
To provide a flexible, responsive, high quality caretaking service to the Trust’s housing estates and communal areas throughout the district as directed by the Senior Neighbourhood Manager.
Manage a patch of flatted blocks in relation to their operational safety, maintenance, waste management arrangements, cleanliness, grounds maintenance and overall appearance.
Identify and diagnose repair works required within communal areas and determine the best value for money solution.
Act as a ‘good neighbour’, providing a point of contact for any enquiries residents have about their homes or services that we provide.
Required Skills and Experience:
Good level of physical fitness, including the ability to lift bulky items, work at height and in differing conditions.
Have minor repair skills relating to housing such as carpentry, joinery, fencing, bricklaying, roofing, groundwork, flooring, tiling, plumbing, lighting, decoration and clearance works.
Experience of providing a flexible, responsive high quality service direct to the public.
Have experience of repairs, maintenance and cleaning works both in occupied and unoccupied properties, including property inspections, defects diagnosis and specify repairs
Be able to use both paper documentation and IT systems for reporting and undertaking job-related tasks.
Have an excellent awareness of current Health & Safety regulations and be aware of their implications within the workplace
A self-reliant person that has the ability to organise own tasks and activities to ensure efficient and smooth running of daily tasks with minimum supervision.
A basic understanding of the landlords responsibilities towards tenants and leaseholders, especially from a health & safety point of view.
The ability to effectively spot hazards and determine a fast and efficient solution to make safe and minimise potential accidents.
Hold a full driving licence.
