My client based close to High Wycombe are looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer on a permanent basis.
The role covers all mechanical design activities associated with proposals and projects and is responsible for undertaking design activities in accordance with appropriate technical standards and specifications.
It is essential for this role that candidates have a proven background using Solidworks and have a good knowledge and understanding of FEA using either Ansys or Solidworks.
Key Objectives of the Mechanical Design Engineer:
* Designs relate to mechanical parts designed and manufactured in house.
* The Design Engineer will conceive research and develop engineering designs from product ideas gathered by liaising with the Production and Sales Departments.
* Be familiar with, and experienced in, the application of various Design Engineering disciplines and procedures and fully appreciate their potential effect on the component definition.
* Factors, including the use of product, material, production processes, safety, legal requirements, quality and cost, and ease of maintenance will all need to be assessed.
* Prepare working designs, arrange construction and test prototypes.
* Produce design information and prepare specifications for materials and components.
Responsibilities of the Mechanical Design Engineer:
* Assist the project management team to convert client engineering requirements into detailed defined instructions for the procurement and production departments.
* Establish cost effective design packages for the satisfaction and timely completion of manufacturing and inspection activities ensuring compliance to quality, engineering and safety standards.
* Perform stress analysis calculations.
* Provide quotation data in the form of layout drawings and technical assistance.
* Attend internal design reviews.
* Assist in the development of design standards.
* Participate in client interface meetings to support the sales and project engineering departments
* Support client site visits, this may involve a proportion of worldwide travel
Experience & Knowledge:
* Fully conversant with AutoCad 2D, Solidworks, Microsoft Office.
* Oil & gas industry experience (desirable).
* Full understanding and experience with FEA using either Ansys or Solidworks.
* Experience of pressure retaining components (desirable).
* Hydraulic Analysis skills (desirable).
* Should be mechanically biased.
* Knowledge of British Standards for Engineering Draughting.
* Good writing skills, with the ability to write technical reports and procedures for Clients.
Qualifications:
* Associated Degree or minimum 5 years of experience mechanical, and hydraulic design ideally within the Oil & Gas industry.
Hours of work are hours of work are 07.30 – 16.30 Monday to Thursday and 07.30 – 13.30 Fridays. An attractive salary of £36-40k is on offer (depending on relevant experience).
