A multi-disciplined civil engineering company with over 45 years’ experience delivering major projects is seeking a Materials / Earthworks Technician responsible for the monitoring and managing the testing of earthwork construction and asphalt installation.
The successful Candidate should be well versed in related disciplines of field and laboratory analysis and testing of soil/aggregates including use of nuclear density gauge, hand shear vane, DCP, Plate bearing and sand cone equipment, performance of basic laboratory tests including compaction curves, plasticity index, grain size, etc.
Experience with lime and cement treated soil and aggregate base is a distinct advantage. A successful candidate must be able to properly follow directions, perform in a responsible manner with minimal oversight and foster professional relationships with customers, contractors, and fellow employees.
The role includes:
Undertaking/organizing testing on site to the required specification
Liaising / coordinating with the client’s QA representatives during the site inspections
Providing materials related guidance / assistance to the engineering team
Planning out Weekly/monthly testing requirements with Site team and external Labs
Reviewing the test results and preparing weekly test summaries
Reviewing earthworks testing requirements
Drafting ITP and check Sheets with QA Team & EngineersEssential Experience / Skills
Minimum 10 years’ experience with materials testing laboratory / Civil Engineering works or Specialist sub-Contractors
Proven record in Field Testing experience in Earthworks and road construction projects in accordance with specification for highway works is compulsory for this role
Ability to read engineering drawings
Experience in Autocad would be advantageous
Strong work ethic and desire to progress
