Bonfire Recruitment is working retained and exclusively with a leading motorsport company based near Aylesbury to recruit an experienced Managing Director.
Our client is a fast-growing, entrepreneurial and forward-thinking business who manufactures and supplies end products into F1, motorsport and high-end automotive markets. They are highly regarded in the marketplace and are looking to grow market share going forward.
Reporting to the owner, As Managing Director you will be responsible for the overall operations, driving sales growth and overseeing the design execution, development, and manufacture of the company products.
* Be responsible for all day-to-day decisions and activities of the business.
* Create a high-energy, collaborative work environment with a sense of identity and pride in the UK’s world-leading motorsport industry.
* To understand and commercially manage a high-intensity, short lead-time business where service, on-time delivery, quality, and technical leadership come first. This includes being able to manage sensitive commercial relationships in motorsport.
* Manage and hold to account senior members of the core business areas, including sales, engineering and development, production, quality, purchasing, finance, and HR.
* Support the commercial success of the business by delivering financial goals and business priorities.
* Oversee and drive business development to ensure sufficient volume of new projects as well as the production of existing lines to meet the revenue goals, and an appropriate variety of assignments to drive balanced talent development.
* Identify and cultivate new customers and business opportunities.
* Build relationships with external entities (e.g., suppliers, motorsport industry bodies, suppliers of complementary products and research organisations) for collaboration on client projects, sales and development of future engineering top talent.
* Oversee and manage the sales and engineering teams to actively participate in industry forums to promote the business and its technology.
* Effectively communicate results to both internal and external stakeholders by preparing written detailed summary reports and making presentations describing customer value propositions.
* Lead strategic planning and long-term development of product offerings of the business.
* Preparation of budgets and business plans as part of the annual planning cycle.
* Lead the business to drive cost out, control costs, maximize profit opportunities and manage the business and financial risks.
* Measure, report and analyse business and functional performance, including working capital and all financial metrics.
* Ensure robust financial controls are in place and adhered to.
* Responsible for insight into monthly and YTD performance.
* Review and approve all major commercial proposals.
Experience & Competencies Required:
* Managing Director, General Manager, Operations / Commercial experience ideally within motorsport, electronic or assembly manufacturing environments.
* Responsibility for a profit and loss stream.
* Demonstrated ability to identify and cultivate new business opportunities.
* Demonstrated ability to lead programs/projects.
* Strong past in driving financial performance
* Passion for working in an open, sharing, and supportive environment where colleagues welcome opportunities to assist each other with solving challenging technical problems
