Job Title: Deputy General Manager

Overview:
Are you an experienced Deputy General Manager who would like to join our rapidly expanding product certification team in High Wycombe?
This is a great opportunity to develop your career within a Product Certification team who provide certification to companies involved in the production and installations of products used in the construction industry. Reporting to the Business Unit Head you will work closely with the existing functional team heads in order to maximise the operational efficiency of the complete team whilst maintaining the highest levels of safety, quality and service.
Responsibilities:
Support the General Manager in the management of the financial operations ensuring financial objectives are delivered
Support the technical, operational and commercial leadership of the team
Ensure that operational and quality standards are being met and maintained at all times
Responsible for the safety performance and awareness
Utilising 5S and SQDC to drive and maintain a culture of Operational Excellence
Drives customer focus and ensures communication with customers is maintained
Ensure that operational goals and customer expectations are consistently met in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner
Accountable for department personnel including recruitment, performance reviews, absence management and disciplinary in conjunction with HR
Consult on services requested by the client and provide alternatives and "up" selling with the various add on capabilities
Advise team on issues concerning the successful and timely completion of daily work, facilitating problem-solving when required
Contribute to the department's leadership team in the development and implementation of the department's strategic direction
Works effectively with all colleagues to develop and maintain positive employee relations
Qualifications:
A degree in an engineering or technical-related discipline, experience in a management role ideally with operations management experience gained in an accelerated-growth organization
Experience of managing a P&L in a £5m+ customer facing commercial role
Working knowledge of managing site safety with knowledge of the current suite of audit services
A knowledge of factory production control process, certification activities and British & European product standards would be an advantage.
Proven ability to support and train staff members for the department to meet customers' expectations
Strong computer skills with basic mathematical skills
Technical and commercial leadership is vital to the production and operation of assigned tests
Ability to communicate (written and oral) effectively with clients and colleagues with great attention to detail and timing of results
Proven ability to multitask and work under strict timelines
Strong organizational, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to effectively establish and maintain two-way communications to understand the needs and concerns of all departments and customers
Understanding of continuous improvement disciplines such as Six Sigma, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, etc.
Strong project management, analytical and problem-solving skills provide go-to insight into the daily efficient operations
Proven track record of success concerning technical competency
