Office Depot has an exciting opportunity for an Enterprise Architect to join the growing team in our UK office in Milton Keynes. The role is a full time, permanent position offering an excellent salary and benefits package.

As our Enterprise Architect, you will work closely with the IT and eCommerce teams, leading enterprise architecture, and performing key analysis and architecture activities: This is a hands-on, practical architecture role. You will lead the team in proving out technologies before we use them – working on proof-of-concept code so we can test and learn. You will collaborate to set principles and standards that will enable our engineering teams to create solutions whilst empowering our engineering teams to get better and better at their own solutions. You will be our expert on what great architecture looks like.

Responsibilities of our Enterprise Architect include:

– Driving the principles, standards, and high-level architecture of a future-state technology stack

– Owning the Enterprise architecture/end state architecture

– Leading the organisation towards loosely coupled, well architected solutions that maximises the value of data and technology and business agility

– Identifying opportunities to maximise agility, value, and designed-in data quality

– Leading the architecture group in identifying opportunities to reduce cost, risk, and complexity in the legacy technology estate, and opportunities to implement them

– Ensuring that the architect group identifies technical solutions that will enable the transition from current to future state

– Defining processes and frameworks to consistently deliver data and fact-based architecture decisions with participation of key stakeholders

– Maintaining a high-level technology roadmap which aligns platform roadmaps to execute an enterprise IT strategy

– Keeping up to date with modern architecture & technologies

– Defining a set of principles that will drive all engineering teams to the adoption of more modern engineering practices

– Developing and growing a strong internal architecture team

– Building a strong community of practice that allows for feedback so that our strategy, principles, and building blocks can be constantly reviewed

– Building and maintaining a network of internal and external stakeholders/partners and represent the IT and Digital Engineering organisations

– Managing architectural issues arising between product or platform teams

– Leading the architecture team in proof of concepts to prove out new technology solutions

Our ideal Enterprise Architect will also have the following skills and experience:

– Experience in maintaining agile roadmaps enterprise architecture and future end-state architecture.

– Strong background in development – able to keep up with hands-on architects that can code and show proof of concept code.

– Experience in agile, collaborative working environments.

– Experience of large-scale transformation from legacy to modern software

– Strong communication skills and the ability to grow a collaborative work culture.

– Extensive knowledge of on premise and cloud infrastructure; business applications; integration and data management solutions.

– Knowledge of ERP (SAP S/4, SAP ECC6, or Oracle cloud preferred)

– Knowledge of SAP Commerce Cloud or another eCommerce solution

– Knowledge of Salesforce or another CRM / Sales platform

– Experience with Integration technologies including ETL

– Architecting micro services and managing reuse

– Defining principles and managing the feedback from engineering teams on the principles
