Purchasing and Supply Chain Manager, £55,000 to £65,000, Pension and Benefits
Melbreck technical are working with a world leading designer and manufacturer of special purpose machinery and equipment.
They have an exciting opening within their business for a Purchasing and Supply Chain Manager to join their head office in Milton Keynes.
The main purpose of the role is to help the business engage the global marketplace, in the selection of ethical and stable supply partners, who can assist in supporting growth & development of its products.
The Purchasing and Supply Chain Manager is responsible for overseeing both the ongoing maintenance and future development of the supplier base, which will also includes some joint and split commodity management with other sites in the UK.
Purchasing and Supply Chain Manager key role aspects:
To develop, support and coach the purchasing team. Formally develop and define value added systems and procedures and their adherence to assist the company in its sustainable growth plans.
Providing leadership in the development of the current and new supplier base and logistics systems using processes and proven techniques to achieve the world class supply of parts into the businesses manufacturing facilities.
The ongoing management of a commercially secure supply base to ensure efficient purchase, control, and scheduling of material at the lowest overall cost, in line with the business purchasing strategy.
Purchasing and Supply Chain Manager experience requirements:
Applicants should preferably be a qualified member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
The applicant must have extensive experience in a senior position in purchasing / commodity management or supply chain management role.
You should be able demonstrate proven experience and achievement in the following:
The sourcing of the following commodities: Fabrication weldments, castings and machined components, power system components, Hydraulic power and control components, electrical assemblies, and components.
Business administration skills.
Purchasing & supply for continuous single piece flow line environment.
Computer literate in Microsoft office and manufacturing software systems (i.e. MRP).
Experience and ability to travel and operate within a global marketplace.
Conversant with lean manufacturing tools.
Required areas of Knowledge:
Supply contracts to automotive standards and penalties.
Open book costing / Purchase Price Variance.
Rolling schedule deliveries.
Supplier Audit processes/scoring/development. Commercial, SQA, QPAP, PPAP.
Contract negotiation.
