Role Purpose:
Working within a small team of 5 quality inspectors in a busy fast paced inspection lab. Carry out inspection of various precision machined parts using various equipment. Dealing with first off, patrol checking and final inspections duties. Completing FAIR, ISIR reporting. Take part in corrective actions to ensure conformity with customer requirements. Interfaces with customers as needed. Generally, operates with appreciable latitude for non-reviewed action and decision making.
Responsibilities:
* Inspect and validate customer parts within the inspection lab
* Conversant in first principles inspection methods
* Familiarity with inspection equipment and tools including CMM, Wenzel gear checking and Zeiss- training given
* Support quality manager in his daily activity.
* Take part in audits of department in line with audit processes. Audit training to be provided
* Assist and implement CI and lean activities within the quality inspection department 5S
* Complete ISIR, First and final inspection and FAIR’s. Software training to be provided
* Complete PPS and 8D investigations and reports and feedback to customers findings
* Communicate with customers by phone and email
* Assist to maintain calibration system
* Attend quality meetings
* Assist quality manager to impellent SOP for daily shop floor patrol checking of high risk and Std parts and processes.
Salary £13.00 to £18.00 per hr
Shifts available – Early & late
Hours of work:
Early shift Monday to Friday 6.00am to 2:15pm
Late shift Monday to Friday 2pm to 10.15pm
Probation: 3 months
Bonus: Performance related bonus
Holiday: Holiday 28 days including bank holidays.
Qualification & skills required for this position
Minimum of 3 years as a Quality inspector or equivalent experience.
Gear and transmission knowledge an advantage but not critical- training given.
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and manage in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with inspection methods, coordinate measuring machines and test equipment NDT, processes, heat treating.
Working knowledge of applicable manufacturing and quality requirements including ISO 9001, AS 9100.
Proficient in the use of personal computers, blueprint reading, geometric tolerances, and application of SPC to the manufacturing process.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem solving, and a some understanding of aerospace requirements.
