The Vale of Aylesbury Housing Trust is a Buckinghamshire based housing association providing homes and services to local communities throughout the Vale of Aylesbury, we have around 7,200 homes. We pride ourselves on working closely with residents and surrounding communities to make sure we deliver high quality housing, homes and services. We are looking for a Painter and Decorator (Planned) to help us achieve our vision and goals.
The Role:
* To attend the Trust’s housing stock having planned work carried out and liaise with tenants to carry out required painting and redecoration, tiling and general finishing to kitchens and bathrooms fitted as part of the Trust Decent Homes programme.
* To determine the most cost effective approach to achieving a durable and quality decorative finish.
* To carry out preparation/repair/application of finishing products as necessary.
* To execute workmanship to a high standard and ensure it is carried out in strict compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act, and any other relevant legislation covering safety in the workplace for self and others.
Required Skills and Experience:
* Good level of physical fitness, including the ability to lift, work at heights and in differing conditions.
* Hold City & Guilds Part III /NVQ level 3 in Painting and Decorating or other equivalent qualification.
* Have a strong ability in tiling shower rooms, bathrooms and kitchens.
* Have other building works related skills such as minor plastering, bricklaying, and carpentry.
* Hold a valid Driving Licence.
* Be able to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
* Be able to use both documentation and , IT systems for reporting and maintaining records.
* Be able to work to strict deadlines.
* Be capable of working efficiently, effectively, diligently and courteously without the need for constant supervision repair tasks to domestic properties.
* Have the ability to plan and organize painting and decorating maintenance works /projects.
* Have an excellent awareness of current Health and Safety regulations backed up by evidence of relevant training, and the ability to work in a safe manner.
* Have good verbal and written skills including client liaison, users and occupiers regarding work timetables and estimated costs.
* Have 2 years’ post qualification experience in Repair & Maintenance works both in occupied and unoccupied properties including property inspections, defects analysis and specifying building repairs.
* Have experience of undertaking planned and cyclical maintenance work.
* Be able to work as part of a team.
