Our Client is looking for a Plant Manager to join their Supply Chain Team, on a permanent staff basis, location in Fawley.
ROLE
Responsible for general supervision of all phases of plant operations including: SHE, production, quality control, maintenance, receiving, and shipping. Your responsibilities will also include recruiting, hiring and training personnel and driving team engagement. You will manage annual budget planning (capital and operational) and execution as well as facility/physical plant up-keep and capital improvement. You will work closely with the production team to increase productivity and profitability within the manufacturing operation and partner with sales, quality, procurement and other support functions, to ensure great customer service, scrap minimalization and costs control.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage People by:

Analyzing workforce requirements
Coordinating the hiring and training of all manufacturing personnel to ensure associates have both the necessary skills and behavioural competencies to undertake both current and future roles
Ensuring the annual PP&D (Performance Planning & Development) process is in place
Coaching and inspiring your team towards high performance
Promoting teamwork and cross-functional team collaboration
Warrant SHE and Quality Compliance by ensuring:
Corporate, Global, Regional and Local specific SHE, Quality and Hygiene Standards and expectations are communicated to and rigorously enforced with associates, contractors & visitors
All accidents and near misses are thoroughly investigated and notified to the appropriate level in accordance with Company & National guidelines
All breaches of SHE Standards are investigated and the appropriate disciplinary action is taken
All audit findings are prioritized, followed through and remedial work undertaken to eliminate the risk in a timely manner
The plant is environmentally secure so that no uncontrolled effluent can enter the public drainage systems or water courses (including rivers & streams). All environmental breaches are promptly dealt with and investigated using root cause analysis
Changes to the documented product or process specification are not permitted without proper review and authorisation
No out-of-spec finished products are released or shipped without proper authorisation and all processes for recording, reporting and disposing of non-conforming products are followed
Security system and access readers are maintained
The plant is secure at all times with no unauthorised entry and no goods leaving without prior authorisation
Pursue savings opportunities by:

Managing the annual budget and maintenance & repair budget within agreed limits
Research ways and reduce costs while maintaining product quality i.e. eliminate scrap, avoid overtime, oversee contractors and 3rd party labour payment terms
Work closely with quality personnel to review product consistency while monitoring scrap rates to determine trends and areas of improvement.
Drive Excellent Customer Service by ensuring:

All product leaving the plant meet specification and pass the sensibility test
All Customer Service issues and complaints are immediately acted upon, investigated promptly and outcomes are fed back and documented
DIFOT/SIFOT are well understood and everyone knows their role in meeting targets
Mange Operations by:

Setting stretching but achievable productivity targets with a deliverable plan
Introducing / maintaining regular KPI monitoring mechanism i.e. DOM and weekly Operations meeting, reporting and acting upon
Encouraging and promoting operating in a continuous improvement environment, engage associates in TPM to identify the root causes of all losses and eliminate them, improve efficiencies and enhance productivity
Ensuring all plant & equipment is maintained in optimum condition
Working with purchasing manager to develop and improve supplier relationships.
Reviewing established production schedules for all manufacturing departments to ensure established inventory levels are met while operating at the highest efficiency possible.
Maintaining inventory levels and control flow of product
REQUIREMENTS

Degree in Chemical Engineering or with Chemistry Specialization; Process or Mechanical Engineering
Track record of progressive roles required – should have experience in both managerial and production positions
Must have experience in the handling of chemicals along with ISO & OHSAS certifications
Must have worked as a Plant Manager, Assistant Plant Manager or Production Supervisor for at least 3 years in chemical environment
Action and results-oriented and able to drive results by engaging the plant team; able to plan, prioritize and take timely decisions; customer-focused and able to instill trust, collaborative; resilient, able to drive change and lead TPM; Capable and willing to build and mobilize his teams and drive engagement
