This is a fantastic opportunity for a forward thinking, and versatile Highways Operative to join a market leader in the Highways sector. This is a permanent role with a progressive company, who invest in the development of their staff.

The Opportunity:

The main purpose of the role is to assist, generally as part of a team, in delivering highway maintenance in both planned and reactive operations. Applicants must be willing to be part of a road maintenance team where driving forms part of the day to day role as well as general road maintenance duties.

Main Responsibilities:

Carry out a variety of skilled tasks including carriageway, footway, and drainage maintenance.
Receive daily briefings and understand risks and control measures required for the task.
Complete daily record sheets and associated items.
Ensure waste is dealt with in the appropriate manner.
Pothole repair and carriageway defects reinstatements.
Drainage works, including laying pipes, resetting ironwork and gully/access chamber construction.
Kerbing works.
Soft estate maintenance.
Traffic Management Operations.

Personal Specification:

Highways maintenance experience.
A full UK Driving Licence.
HGV Licence
Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime.
A strong understanding of Health & Safety.
Ability to work safely and productively with minimum supervision.
NVQ or City & Guilds training in the use of salt-spreading vehicles in desirable.
Relevant New Roads and Streetworks or NHSS 12 training and qualifications would be highly beneficial.
