We are one of the largest, best known Pharmaceutical companies in the industry and our products are known globally.
We are looking to recruit an experienced Animal Technician with experience of production process of vaccines to join us on an initial 12 month contract.
Key responsibilities include:
* Collect and weigh bovine faeces via purpose designed equipment.
* Process faeces and present for incubation to enable lungworm larvae cultivation.
* Wash faeces to recover larvae for further processing.
* Prepare harvested larvae for transfer to secondary production.
* Provide general high standard of housekeeping in the animal housing and harvest processing areas.
* Maintain records of the above.
* Co-operate with supervisors and managers to achieve a safe and healthy workplace.
* Take reasonable care of themselves and others who may be affected by their actions or omissions.
* Follow safe operating instructions for all tasks and equipment.
* Use the right tools and equipment specified for the task.
* Use the correct personal protective equipment required.
* Report any defects or workplace hazards to supervisors or managers immediately
* Report all accidents and near misses.
Desirable qualifications and experience:
* Full driving licence (desirable)
* Possession of Home Office Personal Individual Licence (PIL)
* Institute of Animal Technology (IAT) or other relevant qualification
* Knowledge of care, husbandry and management practises
* Knowledge of principles of the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act (ASPA) and Good Manufacturing Practise (GMP)
* Understanding of barrier accommodation and bio-security within animal housing
* Computer literacy for online training and data entry
* Accurate and legible paper record keeping
* Ability to work methodically & flexibly either alone and/or as part of a small team
* Experience and knowledge of working safely plus responsibilities to colleagues, contractors, visitors and the environment
* Highly organised and tidy to maintain optimal housekeeping in the production facilities
