BDS Recruitment are currently looking to appoint a Housing Support Worker to work at supported living in High Wycombe for those with learning disabilities and mental health issues. This role will involve providing hands on support to the service users, while adhering to the companies charter and values.Support staff will provide emotional, educational and physical support to service users and will act as a role model treating service users with respect, dignity and equality.
We are looking for support workers who are keen to make a difference and build relationships and promote daily confidence and well-being to each individual.We are looking for people who ideally have a working experience of; awareness of Learning Disabilities, Autism or challenging and repetitive behaviour’s
You will be working either Full time or Part time. Our Housing support workers will work in our ‘move on’ flats in the centre of High Wycombe. These are a set of 12 independent flats within the same building, and will provide a domiciliary support model to those tenants who require it. You will provide advice and support about housing and ensure the tenants you are working with gain skills and knowledge in managing and maintaining their tenancy.
You will also work with the people being supported to sign up to and manage their profile on the local council housing register with a view to them gaining a general needs tenancy in the short-term future.
A large part of your role will be in assessing and supporting tenants to develop skills including; gaining confidence in life skills development, attending adult learning facilities locally, online, or further afield, CV writing and development, and learning how to effectively manage their money and budget. The people you will be supporting will be the following client groups; Learning disabilities – Mental Health – ASD We welcome previous experience in any of these client groups.
Your role might include:
* supporting individuals to access housing and other community services
* helping individuals to understand housing benefits available to them
* ensuring residents live in a safe and secure environment
* carrying out health and safety assessments
* doing risk assessments with individuals
* doing administrative tasks to support your work such as tenancy agreements, daily records, supporting with letters and third-party communication.
The role will require a large amount of lone working on site. You will always have access to on call and management.
This is a temp to perm role (Temp for 12 weeks)
The rate of pay is £9.00 per hour plus holiday pay plus Weekend Enhancements of £1.50 per hour. After 6 month probation, hourly rate increases to £9.50.
The successful candidate will be required to undertake a full Enhanced DBS Certificate.
