You will be working on Network rail’s Intelligent Infrastructure project to provide subject matter expertise and engineering leadership in the capacity of Lead engineer for NR II programme. Support the junior civils engineers, IT development team and Agile business analysts
You will be engaged in development of IT systems and take responsibility for engaging and result driven relationship with various NR internal and external stakeholders/partners; Provide technical leadership for Civils Structures IT projects; Support application development, system integration, risk mitigation and support the NR project engagement head, professional head of workstreams with technical expertise
Key Responsibilities
Typical day to day responsibilities for this role will include:
* Accountable for providing technical engineering leadership to Civil workstream specifically for Civils Structures projects
* Stakeholder management, responsible for developing positive, engaging and result oriented relationship with the key project stakeholders, IT delivery team, leadership teams, subject matter experts, Business analysts and various Network rail working groups
* Provide technical leadership to civils programme by coordinating and leading team meetings, managing the risk logs and taking ownership of the technical issues
* Work with stakeholders and partners to mitigate the potential risks and any issues
* Involve in IT development activities, system integration activities to ensure the effective delivery of the system
* User acceptance / product acceptance process activities
* Ensure the benefits realisation of technical developments by engaging with R&D governance forums and stakeholders’ meetings
Skills and competencies
What are we looking for?
The successful candidate will possess the following skills and competencies:
* Railway domain experience
* Railway Civils structures engineering projects experience
* Asset management experience for managing linear and non-linear assets, LiDAR systems projects, Field work management applications, Remote data sensing, data collection and management platforms for Civils Structures
* Knowledge of working with overall Civils workstreams including Drainage, Lineside, Boundary measure, Vegetation, Mining & Tunnels, Structures, Geotechnics -Earthworks and OPAS – Operational Properties Asset System
* Knowledge of various strategic and tactical maintenance activities, work planning, Scheduling & forecasting activities, operational reports, compliance & governance reports
* Awareness of the product development activities, Agile methodologies, requirement analysis, proof of concept development activities
* Managing and working with project teams
* Knowledge of railway policies, structure NR standards, design standards, regulations and national legislation
* Experience of developing product road maps, technology and product strategies
* Knowledge of the railway safety management and risk assessment process
* Project management activities, governance methodologies, experience in IT system development
* Experience in railway civils infrastructure management and safety critical environment
* Experience in working with multiple disciplines with internal and external stakeholders
Qualifications
BEng./MEng. degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
