A large multi national corporation with the European head office based in the UK are seeking to recruit an experienced Design Engineer to join their team within the Milton Keynes area. 

Although part of this large corporation  The successful design Engineer will work within a small team supplying a selection of demanding automotive businesses.  You have the opportunity to be a part of this divisions continued growth and success by joining the business as a Mechanical Design Engineer.

The Mechanical Design Engineer role: 

Working on an extremely varied range of Automotive products you will focus your time within the following areas:

– Working within a “design envelope” you will understand the brief of the product including functional and aesthetic requirements.

– Create 3D CAD schemes within design brief utilising Siemens NX  (Version 11)

– Complete any required design calculations including bending calculations, torque & tolerance stacks among others.

– The Mechanical Engineer will work on the resolution of design & functionality issues liaising with project stakeholder's.

– Understand and pro-actively manage issues of Design for Manufacture, measurability & testing.

– Completion of DFMEA and other associated automotive paperwork requirements.

– Manage your own work load with anywhere from 5 to 10 projects on your desk at a time which
you will take approximately 6 weeks to complete.

– Manage the engineering change requests and inbound customer and supplier CAD information.

The Mechanical Design Engineer Candidate: 

– The Successful Mechanical Design Engineer will hands-on Mechanical product design experience, ideally in the automotive.  However, if you have good fundamental knowledge of designing for the required processes you could also be considered.

– Knowledge of Designing for processes including; injection moulding, Metal fabrication, Drape forming, Aluminium and plastic Extrusion is highly desirable.

– The Mechanical Design Engineer must be competent using Siemens NX and will be responsible for the vast majority of CAD model generation within the European business.

– The Mechanical Design Engineer will have the ability to deliver innovative designs within defined functional constraints. 

– Willingness to travel internationally to participate in line trials.
