School Nurse
PURPOSE OF JOB: Be part of the Welfare Team that provides medical and pastoral care to day and boarding students and staff at the Teikyo Japanese school.
HOURS: Full time or part time. Flexible hours but able to work on a seven day rota that includes both night and day duty.
DUTIES:
* Supporting the Welfare Team (2 people) in general healthcare and pastoral care at Teikyo School.
* Assessment and treatment of sports injuries or other accidents.
* To be responsible for writing accident reports and reviewing medical healthcare plans for students.
* Advising Boarding Duty Staff and teaching staff on medical issues and adolescent physical health and emotional wellbeing.
* Take students to medical and dental appointments off Campus.
* Ensuring first aid kits around school are monitored and are restocked.
* Maintenance of the Welfare Office, sick bays, and isolation areas as hygienic rooms, suitably equipped for serving the medical needs of the students and staff.
* To ensure effective information sharing and handover with the Welfare Team.
* Liaise with the Welfare Officer on issues which arise through the care of students.
* Attend regular staff briefings as directed.
* Liaising with local public health teams regarding testing, immunisations and any other medical matters which the school needs to act upon.
* Be aware of the School Data Protection Policy and Privacy Notice and work within those parameters.
QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING, and SKILLS:
* Registered nurse and relevant qualifications and training are up to date to meet NMC guidelines.
* The ability to prioritise and manage situations under pressure.
* Be willing to complete Level 2 Child Protection training and any other training relevant to the school setting.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Competent IT skills
