Blackstone Recruitment are working with a Client based in Buckinghamshire who are looking to recruit a Band 8a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to work within their Complex Mood and Trauma Pathway.
This is a locum post, with a minimum contract of 3 months and the view for this to be extended beyond.
Due to COVID-19 you will be Remote working for this opportunity, however required to occassionally carry out face-to-face assessments when necessary. Therefore the succesful candidate must be willing to commute to Buckinghamshire when required.
Job purpose
* To act as a senior clinician within the Specialist Therapies Service and to provide specialist clinical psychology input to the service users referred to the team.
* The post holder will be responsible for taking a lead on the management of one of the pathways within the STT model. This will involve the co-ordination of the clinical interventions, staff working with the pathway and with a strong emphasis on evaluation and audit of the effectiveness of the pathway.
* The post holder will also be expected to be involved in the supervision of junior psychologists, trainees, assistants and colleagues from other professional background were appropriate.
* Within STT clinical interventions are undertaken in both group and 1-1 form. The post holder will be expected to carry a caseload consisting of the more complex cases and offer both group and 1-1 interventions.
* The post holder will be expected to develop the structures and skills necessary for all mental health workers to ‘think psychologically’ as a core philosophy of treatment delivery.
Context of the Job
The Specialist Therapies team forms an integrated mental health service providing service for people over the age of 18 years with a Non Psychosis presentation including Personality Disorder.
The team provides consultation and formulation and a range of evidenced based specialist psychological therapies for people over the age of 18 years who have a presentation of a Non Psychosis. This includes Personality Disorder.
The evidenced based therapies are managed along the following clinical pathways:
* Complex Mood and Anxiety Disorders
* Trauma.
* Personality Disorder
* Psychosocial
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Work
* To provide specialist psychological assessments of service-users referred to the STT upon appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources. This will include the use of routine psychometric assessments and measures, observations and interviews where appropriate.
* To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the formulation and implementation of plans for the formal psychological treatment and or management of a client’s problems based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the service-users problems in the context of the family and wider system.
* To be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions, specific to NICE Guidance for individuals and groups, adjusting and refining the formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypothesis.
* To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic model’s and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual.
* To provide regular, formalised and specialist psychological consultation both to professionals working within STT as well as with the wider partnership agencies and professional staff across a variety of external agencies.
* To act as a senior clinician within the team and to work with the more complex cases referred for specialist treatment.
* To undertake risk assessment and risk management for all service-users in attendance within the service, including the protective and risk factors present in the network of significant relationships.
* To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of service-users under their care and to monitor and evaluate progress during the course of their MDT care.
* To liaise with other professionals, and work jointly with those involved with individuals and provide updates as appropriate.
* The post holder will develop close working relationships with other providers of mental health support within MK.
* To attend review meetings, case conferences, CPAs and network meetings as appropriate and to oversee similar activity within the team.
* To maintain adequate clinical notes of all work undertaken including current electronic systems and to ensure appropriate written communication is maintained with GP’s, and other referrers.
Essential Criteria:
Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuro-psychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies development psychology as accredited by the BPS
To be registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC)
Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology
Training in Supervision
