Blackstone Recruitment are working with a Client based in Buckinghamshire who are looking to recruit a Band 7 Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to work within their Personality Disorder Pathway Team.
This is a locum post, with a minimum contract of 3 months and the view for this to be extended beyond.
Due to COVID-19 you will be Remote working for this opportunity, however required to occassionally carry out face-to-face assessments when necessary. Therefore the succesful candidate must be willing to commute to Buckinghamshire when required.
Job purpose
* To provide a qualified clinical/counselling psychology service to the service users of the Specialist Therapies Team.
* To work with colleagues within the pathways to ensure systemic and high quality provision of assessment and both individual and group treatments.
* To offer advice and consultation on service users psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues.
* To work as part of the team developing the mentalisation based ethos within the team.
* To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the services policies and procedures.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Work
* To provide psychological assessments of service-users referred to STT upon appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources. This will include the use of routine psychometric assessments and measures, observations and interviews where appropriate.
* To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the formulation and implementation of plans for the formal psychological treatment and or management of a client’s problems based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the service-users problems in the context of the family and wider system.
* To be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions, specific to NICE Guidance for individuals and groups, adjusting and refining the formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypothesis.
* To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options in specific pathways taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic model’s and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual.
* To undertake risk assessment and risk management for all service-users in attendance within the service, including the protective and risk factors present in the network of significant relationships.
* To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of service-users under their care and to monitor and evaluate progress during the course of their STT care.
* To liaise with other professionals, and work jointly with those involved with individuals and provide updates as appropriate.
* To attend review meetings, case conferences, CPAs and network meetings as appropriate and to oversee similar activity within the team.
* To maintain adequate clinical notes of all work undertaken including current electronic systems and to ensure appropriate written communication is maintained with GP’s, and other referrers.
Essential Criteria:
-Doctorate Training In Clinical or Counseling Psychology.
-Registration with the HCPC
Experience of working in mental health services at a secondary care level with complex presentations
Experience of working with people with a number of complex presentations across the age range who may also be in crisis and who frequently express suicidality
Experience of managing risky presentations
Experience of facilitating group treatments
Experience of using evidence based formulation driven approaches to understanding complex presentations.
Experience of working in a service where agreed targets are in place demonstrating clinical outcomes and the experience of using outcome measures in routine practice
Experience in managing one’s own caseload and time pressures
Experience of using electronics databases and of updating these in a timely fashion.
