Job description/role: Paint line operative – reporting to the team leader (Paint line) but may need to work in other areas as and when required. The operative will be responsible for the loading and unloading of company product on either one of our two paint lines. Beam line (loading): The weight of product usually varies between 5-25kg. Beam hooks are placed into the beams in preparation for hanging on to the beam line conveyor (this is carried out by one operator) another two operatives will load the prepared stillage on to the beam line, one operator will hang the hook end of the beam on to the conveyor and the other operator will load the opposite end of the beam onto a ramp that is set at waist height to reduce lean over and bending with the product. Beam line (unloading): After being painted, there are 3 unloaders that will be responsible for their respective packs, they will unload the beams from the conveyor and place them into the stillage they are working from, (in accordance with the department and company packing specifications). The operator will also need to ensure that the product is packed and fastened safely to reduce the risk of injury to others and / or damage to the product in transit. Post (loading): The weight of product usually varies between 5-40kg (sometimes more), this weight is shared between 2 loaders, there will be a loader at each end of the product, they will safely – at the same time – lift the product from their end out of the stillage (pack). They will then,safely and securely hang the product on to their respective end of the line – using jigs and flight bars to carry the product around the line. Post (unloading): After being painted. There are two unloaders that will usually be responsible for one pack that they both work on together. They will both lift their respective end of the product and safely remove it from the line – product may still be hot so extra care and attention is needed here. The product will then need to be placed into the stillage they are working from, (in accordance with the department and company packing specifications). The operator will also need to ensure that the product is packed and fastened safely to reduce the risk of injury to others and / or damage to the product in transit.
