Job Details
Our client based in Milton Keynes is seeking a Software Delivery Manager to work as part of a team supporting Public Sector clients in the UK and Europe. You will need to be a Software Delivery Project Manager who is capable of leading all aspects of project delivery for large public sector projects, including providing oversight and control of project activities, customer relationship management, managing project financial performance, risk management, and reporting progress, as well as resource and subcontractor management.
You will need to be a self-starter who can work directly with clients, identifying needs quickly. Attached to our client's Services organisation, you will have the opportunity to work on different projects covering a variety of application solutions, with an opportunity to make a difference to the business.
Role and Objectives
• Take sole responsibility for smaller value projects, covering all aspects and focusing
on ‘making things happen’ to move them quickly to completion
• Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
• Ensure that appropriate quality standards are met
• Agree and document project scope and objectives with stakeholders, including
facilitating requirements elicitation
• Create and maintain all appropriate project documentation
• Develop and maintain detailed project plans to track progress
• Estimate schedules and costs, producing small value proposals and change request
responses
• Manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs
• Organise the various resources engaged on a project, ensuring necessary availability
and allocation
• Carry out risk management to minimise project risk
• Oversee project accounting activities, including time booking, costings and invoicing
• Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques
• Manage relationships with all stakeholders
• Support bids and pre-sales engagements as required
Required Skill-Set
• Thorough understanding of project management phases, tools and techniques,
including using Agile and Scrum methodologies
• Strong at planning
• Comfortable with governance style reporting
• Able to manage client & third party resources
• Strong organizational and analytical skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
• Commercial awareness
• Management and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate people
• Team-working skills
Required Experience
• Solid technical background, with clear understanding or hands-on experience in
software development and support
• Have led software integration projects and the implementation of third-party
software solutions
• Have led client-facing projects, with demonstrable experience delivering to client
stakeholders
• Ideally have experience managing data migration projects
• Ideally have experience working on bids and pre-sales activities
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including MS Project
• ITIL Understanding, ideally ITIL Foundation Qualified
Soft Skills
• Innovative, creative problem solver with an eye for attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to consistently work to high levels of quality
